Enter Lorenz Kaz

Steffen Kaz born in Stuttgart, Germany From 1990-1994 he studied Industrial Design at the Accademy of Art in Hamburg, continued at the Royal College of Art in London, where he completed his studies in August 1996 with a Master Degree in Furniture. Few months later he moves to New york, working for a Media Company and various other Design Studios. Back in Europe in 1998, he starts working for James Irvine in Milan, where he stays until autumn 2001. Since then, he works in his own studio in Milan. He is collaborating in many projects with Catharina Lorenz, working for clients like FontanaArte, Bedont, Present Perfekt, Zoltan Gruppo DePadova and Segno. Apart from working for other clients, they launched their own furniture line, which they produce and sell under the label Lorenz * Kaz. Since Spring 2003 he is Professor at the University of Bolzano, teaching at the Faculty of Art and Design. Catharina Lorenz born in Munich, Germany From 1986-91 she studied Industrial Design at the Fachhochschule Darmstadt, where she graduated in January 1991 with a Diploma in Industrial Design. In the same year she started to work for Hollington Associates in London. In 1993, back again in Germany she works for Tinz.DCC and Via 4 Design. In 1995 she starts working with Sottsass Associati in Milan, where she stays until autum 1999. Since then, she works in her own studio in Milan for clients like Antonio Lupi and Zeitraum, Since 2002 she is a consultant for DuPont Surfaces, U.S.A. She is also realizing several Interior projects. Apart from working for other clients, they launched their own furniture line, which they produce and sell under the label Lorenz * Kaz.

"The Flower Tower" c/o Via Durando 10, Milan
an installation by DuPont™ Corian®, Avantgarde, TechLab Italia, Lorenz*Kaz,
with the support of Politecnico di Milano
After having created the interior design concept of “Corian® Design – Milano Store”,
showroom dedicated to DuPont™ Corian® solid surface, one of the most important
materials and brands of US company DuPont, Lorenz*Kaz sign a further important project
concerning DuPont™ Corian®: the graphic design of “The Flower Tower”, an external
cladding project involving the tower hosting the office of Avantgarde company in via
Durando 10, inside the Politecnico di Milano (University campus).
Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz have developed the graphic design of “The Flower
Tower”, an installation created to display and promote the possibilities of DuPont™
Corian® as external cladding solution of buildings, an application area explored by
DuPont in Italy collaboration with Avantgarde company.

Tonic – Collection of chairs and seatings for BEDONT

Tonic is a collection of chairs, armchairs and stools, able to create a sparkling and
energetic atmosphere.Tonic collection is characterized by a foam body covered
with bicoloured fabrics, in bright vitaminic tones. The soft but tonic seat seems
to be modelled into the wooden frame.

Otis - four leg table for DE PADOVA
c/o Showroom Corso Venezia 14, Milan
After the success of Otis tripod table in 2007, inspired with creativity and elegance to the
old industrial stools, Lorenz*Kaz have now developed a bigger version of Otis table
featuring four legs. As the smaller 2007 version, the laminate top of Otis table, enriched
by a birch plywood trim, rests on a metal frame that, thanks to the special folding of the
sheet metal base, offers good stability to the table.
