WHAT WE DO

DESIGN | INTERIOR | GRAPHIC | ART DIRECTION

Studio lorenz + kaz works in the fields of furniture design, product design, and interior design for companies in Europe, the Middle, and the Far East. Our expertise spans residential and contract markets, covering all segments of the furniture industry.

Further, we work on visual communication and strategic brand identity. We create communication projects and guide the entire creative process to realize catalogues, invitations, and websites. We like a multicultural, holistic approach to small- and large-scale projects.

OUR MOTIVATION

Searching for the right questions to help solve the problems. Finding the best possible solution with a concentration towards the essential and the focus on simplification. Add comfort for the human soul, to make it interesting and relatable for the user.

STUDIO

NORDIC CULTURE MEETS MEDITERRANEAN TEMPERAMENT

The Milanese Design Studio lorenz+kaz was founded in 2001 by Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz, both German designers living and working in Italy since the mid-Nineties. What characterises their creativity is their sustained quest for perfection and a hybrid “nordic- Italian” imprint of their designs; aware of their origins and always willing to transform and evolve into something new and innovative. The international multidisciplinary team is working in the fields of furniture design, industrial design, exhibition and interior design, brand installations and graphic design with a special focus on brand and art direction.

Renowned firms and brands like De Padova, Alcantara, Zeitraum, DuPont™ Corian®, General Motors, Kuka, Colé, Rossin, BSH Siemens Household Goods, Karl Küfner, Masiero, Saturn Bath, Officina Nicolazzi and BKW Engineering have all confided in the skills and creativity of lorenz+kaz. Furthermore, the designers’ projects are part of the collections of companies like Durasein, Bedont, OmniDecor®, Antonio Lupi, Anesis and Shibui.

Beyond these prestigious collaborations, Catharina Lorenz and Steffen Kaz are designing, producing and commercialising their own lorenz+kaz branded collection.

Their work received several international awards including the Red Dot Best of Best Design Award Germany, Archiproducts award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award USA, IF Design Award and German Design Award Special Mention. In 2019 the German television ZDF/3Sat produced a film documentary about their studio and life in Milan. Furthermore, their work is part of prestigious international exhibitions.
